Albany residents are encouraged to apply for vacancies on the three city councils.
The Arts Council has a vacancy to advise the City Council on cultural and arts matters in Albany, including the acquisition and placement of public art. The Commission adheres to the Public Art Master Plan, the Art in Public Places Regulations and the Public Art Program Plan to support, develop and promote the arts in Albany and increase the economic vitality of the city. This vacancy allows the appointment of a non-Albany resident who represents the local business community and has extensive experience in public arts, culture and arts affairs.
There are two vacancies on the Charter Review Committee, which advises the City Council on proposed changes to the city’s charter. These proposed changes may be proposed by the City Council or recommended to the City Council by the Charter Review Committee.
There is a vacant Community Media Access Committee that advises the City Council on matters related to media access; community engagement and outreach; and information about local government affairs in the city. If interested, complete the online application at albanyca.org/government/vacancies-application or contact the City of Albany Clerk’s Office at 510-528-5710 for more information.
Red Cross seeks area volunteers for its various projects
Whether it’s helping one or thousands of displaced families, providing care and comfort to sick or injured service members, or teaching others how to respond to emergencies, it is through the efforts of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things. The Red Cross responds to emergencies every eight minutes, and our vital work is only possible with people like you.
We are in desperate need of volunteer members and people with leadership skills to support our services to the Armed Forces Military Hospital program, Hero Care case management and community relations outreach. To start your application, visit redcross.org/volunteer online or contact Allie Parker at [email protected] for more information.
