A description of the text provided by the architect. Located on the edge of a lush path near the center of the village, the linear composition of this Blue Mountain House represents an abstract facade of wood and steel on the street. Streamlined industrial aesthetics refer to the galvanized iron in a rural building, with walls extending into a trellis in a branched galvanized garden that blends into the garden and meshes with the adjacent landscape.

A block of long, narrow land was purchased by a client when it was still densely overgrown with bramble weeds and carpeted with the pine needles of the surrounding established trees. Once weeds are removed and the site is open, a design brief will be created with the client, with a modest footprint and scale to accommodate regular visits from family and friends who are enthusiastic about escaping the city. A compact and cozy house has been created. For a break in the mountains.

This house is designed to secure the new house to a sloping land along the entire length of the lane and present a new face to the neighborhood from a prominent position. A carefully selected set of courtyards establishes a connection between each room in the house and the garden. These courtyards provide shade and shelter from the midsummer sun, and allow ample natural light in each room during the cooler months.

A two-layer insulated concrete slab with a hot water heating floor system creates a solid foundation for the house. The eastern facade is supported by cantilever beams over the walls of low-exposure concrete blocks, lifting new structures and connecting them to the cityscape.

Radially sawed silver top ash, dark gray corrugated steel, and lane elevations covered with a composition of painted fiber cement sheets lighten the wood and grow vines on the screen in the courtyard. It changes slowly with time. Inspired by the forests of the surrounding mountains, the subdued shades of green and gray create a meditative interior and a framed view of the adjacent garden.
