Dockers Office Home / Architecture Workshop Circull

A description of the text provided by the architect. The container storage area has a building and technical services management office (“The Dockers House”) for port workers, which led to the idea of using so-called “behind-the-scenes design” technology. To hide the building in one of the main functions of the harbor, the trawler loaded with sea containers has become an artistic image of the facility.

However, this is actually a trick. The building is not a pre-made container structure. On the contrary, metal frames have been developed designed for seismic zones in areas where earthquakes can reach up to nine points. Therefore, the project has passed the appropriate technical expertise. The very “pie” on the façade represents a multi-layered sandwich. The front is lined with molded elements that accurately reproduce the doors and end panels of the cargo container, while the “ship skeleton” is covered with charred wood.

The retaining wall system is an engineering structure and a factor in improving the site, as the building is located at the foot of a hill with a height difference of up to 10 meters. The terrace surrounding the building was left concrete without cladding, but to support the architectural and artistic concept of “ship deck”, the upper part of the terrace formwork was to create the texture of wood. Made of rimless board.

Due to the complexity of the project, not only the architectural image of the building, but also the interior design, graphic navigation and corporate identity were developed. There are also numerous “ship” motives and techniques: round portholes, “deck” finishes, metal nets and slats, and lamps arranged like arrows in marine equipment.

The only bright accent in the monochrome solution (in addition to the orange overalls in Docker) is the active yellow accent in the bathroom. In addition, the color scheme includes the corporate color of the company logo. Blue is used for the façade and interior decoration of the building, and red, the second corporate shade, is used for the furniture. This combination reflects all the magic of Kamchatka’s nature. The blue volcano at dusk and the red clouds of the rays of the setting sun on the other side of Avacha Bay.
