STEVENSVILLE — Famous photographer Jay Fleming has moved his photo studio from Annapolis to Kent Island.

Fleming’s new studio is located in Stevensville, 1415 Sonny Schulz Boulevard, Suite B.

In the new location, Fleming said he was pleased to find an available and affordable space.

Fleming’s second book, Island Life, just released, focuses on images of both living and wildlife on Tangier Island, Virginia, and Smith, the only inhabited offshore island in the Chesapeake Bay. I am.

His first book, Working the Water, was released in 2016 on the theme of sailors in the Chesapeake Bay and the rapidly changing fisheries industry.

Both books are packed with amazing and awe-inspiring photographs that capture the artistic view of life around the Chesapeake Bay.

Many candid photos will wonder, “How did he take that image?”

Fleming’s photographs include underwater scenes, portraits of workers working in oyster-shelled houses, all-day workboats, and the full range of life in the bay. Both books are sold in hardcover only for $ 55.

Fleming grew up in the Arnold region across Baybridge, the son of a former National Geographic photographer. He inherited his father’s old Nikon film camera at the age of 13, and his passion for Fleming began over the years and eventually grew into a career.

“Jay’s talent is undeniable. His photographs are not only beautiful, but also purposeful …. Jay finds a livelihood that fulfills his creativity and at the same time supports his belief in environmental protection. I am very lucky. “

Fleming is a graduate of Broad Neck High School and St. Mary’s College of Maryland on the St. Mary’s River in St. Mary’s City, St. Mary’s County, Maryland.

At just 34 years old, his career has already been very well achieved, but seems to be just beginning. He has won numerous awards and has exhibited his photographs in several locations around the Eastern Shore and in permanent exhibitions in Annapolis.
