Entering the apartments of DIY artists duo Josh Jessup and Matt Moss is like stepping into their vibrant imagination.

The duo moved from Sydney to Melbourne in February, discovering a common passion for art, design, and an interest in creating their own work of art.

“We once lived in a small studio apartment that lacked color and life, so during the blockade last year we spent time reassessing ourselves and where we lived. “Matt told the Daily Mail Australia.

Josh, 24, is an architect and artist, and Matt, 26, is a software developer and designer, and the pair describes themselves as “adults who don’t want to grow.”

The built-in magnet system means that you can replace or change the hanging engraving. You can combine two different designs as you like or in combination.

The range expanded rapidly with a selection of quirky downlight and wall art sculptures, along with “lava” candles.

“We use products from Australian suppliers to make everything from our apartments and always come up with renter-friendly ideas,” Matt said.

Nearly 80% of the furniture in their apartments is second hand, upcycled to suit aesthetics.

For inspiration, they look to Instagram, Pinterest, Etsy’s creative, and postmodern styles.

“We search on Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, or eBay to find the specific piece we’re looking for,” says Josh.

They never work on budget and instead ask if the purchased work will last for a long time.

“If that’s what we’re crazy about, we’re willing to splurge,” Matt said, adding how they want their transformed work to last for decades. I did.

The materials you choose to upcycle your work include marble, wood and glass.

In less than 12 months, they have grown to attract thousands of people on TikTok and attract more than 182,000 followers who admire the design. One video has reached nearly 5 million users.

Earlier this month, Josh and Matt partnered with Gumtree to create a limited edition interior collection under the new label Gumtree Collections to help support National Recycling Week.

They created 25 bespoke pieces using vintage items procured using the Digital Marketplace and spent $ 930 making a profit of $ 4,495.

The collection includes colorful dining tables and rainbow-colored statement chairs, super-new star mirrors, dazzling buffets, and macrame table lamps.

“I wanted to DIY and show that it’s not too difficult to make the unique piece you want to see in your own home,” Matt said.

All proceeds from the collection went to Planet Ark, the Environmental Foundation.

From time to time, they came across a $ 200 vintage sculpture worth up to $ 6,000.
