A description of the text provided by the architect. Terraza Roma consists of a refurbished outdoor space on the roof of an existing home, aiming to create a quiet and comfortable space on the upper terrace of the apartment in the Roma district of Mexico City.

This project is being developed in two major spaces. The first space will continue to have access to the roof through a series of huge walls, creating a corridor that is a green home and at the same time enhances privacy on a clear scale. The walls were covered with a mixture of paint and pigment to achieve the rusty finish envisioned as the ruins of the city. The design strategy was considered by integrating low maintenance materials and finishes. These materials and finishes are aging, can withstand bad weather, and improve the project’s personality over time. As you walk through this concrete corridor, lush vegetation and clay planters create a microclimate that embraces users in a cozy desert-like environment. Further down the corridor, the second space was discovered as a semi-indoor living room, featuring a modular metal structure that stands out with its carbonized wooden roof.

Under this element, the project provides a timeless and spacious place for guests to enjoy for a variety of purposes such as meditative gardens, workspaces, lounge areas and more. One of the most striking features is the integration of in-house designed and manufactured objects such as cast concrete counters and suspended rusted steel fireplaces. These elements are supported and complemented by mid-century furniture and art selected in collaboration with the user. Across the terrace, there is a single wall that acts as a visual feature, covered with a bluish ocher gradient pigment to create a contrast with the “sepia-like atmosphere” that defines the project. increase. On the one hand, the thin pillars that support the structure create a natural frame, providing an interesting view of the city skyline.
