After the World Architecture Festival has just announced the finalists for the best new projects for 2022, the project’s sister event, the World Interior Design Festival (INSIDE 2022), has now announced the finalists for its interior design competition.

This year’s shortlist highlights outstanding interior design for hotels, workplaces, public buildings and restaurants, and includes 65 projects from around the world. According to INSIDE project director Paul Finch, this year’s selection “focuses on the flow of users in interior spaces, using lobbies, platforms and stairs for social and learning engagement.”

“We looked back at everything from the wonderful to the austere and found a lot to admire. Trends in this year’s entries ranged from small to large, including the increasing use of wood for structure and trim; the use of spiral staircases to improve circulation the insertion of nature, including the use of interior trees; and the growing interest in the creative reuse of historic buildings, many of which are industrial,” comments Finch.
