The Newest Luxury Hotel On The Amalfi Coast Is A Design-Lover’s Dream

The Amalfi Coast may be one of the most popular and timeless destinations in the world, but due to the highly coveted and limited real estate, new openings in these areas are rare. This makes the arrival of Borgo Santandrea, a luxury hotel that opened on the coast for the first time in 15 years, even more exciting.

Borgo Santandrea, which occupies the space of the legendary Il Saraceno Hotel in a 17th-century seaside fortress, was carefully reconsidered and rebranded during a three-year ambitious restoration. The hotel has exceeded expectations since it opened quietly in July last year, and its grand opening on April 14, 2022 is even more talked about.

Most of the fanfare can be attributed to the hotel’s unique aesthetics. This is where the mid-century design meets the Mediterranean. Inspired by Gio Ponti’s design at Sorrento’s Parco dei Principi, one of the first design hotels to open in Italy in the 1960s, Borgo Sant’Andrea is a team of local architects, interior decorators, landscape architects and craftsmen. Participated in and created a magnificent hideaway to celebrate. Italian tradition for decades.

The eye-catching white and blue tiles pay homage to the long-standing ceramic heritage of the Amalfi Coast, while Morteni, Tosconova and Rubeli furniture add a modern touch to the common room and sea-facing suites. .. A hip yet authentic mix that creates a harmonious atmosphere that will delight travelers and beauty alike.

Most hotels strive to recreate the intimacy and comfort of a carefully selected home, while satisfying guests with unexpected luxuries, with Borgo Santandrea surpassing both. This is largely due to the previous hospitality experience of the owners, Orlacchio and De Siano’s family from nearby Ischia.

Experienced entrepreneurs decided to set up a hotel for long-term success in a highly competitive market and applied the UX and UI principles when designing the look and feel of a hotel. They interviewed hundreds of travel agencies and advisors to understand the needs of their clients. Preference is reflected in the spacious bathroom with double sink and walk-in closet.

This feeling of a luxury home away from home extends to a shared space with a fireplace, volume bookshelves by Assouline, a vintage telescope, and artwork from a family’s private collection. There are many admirable details, but you can’t miss the uninterrupted views of the azure sea and sky, which are the main selling points of Borgo Sant’Andrea.

Set in a cliff overlooking the bay of the small fishermen of Conca dei Marini, Borgo Santandrea overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea from every angle of the property. Floor-to-ceiling windows, bright open spaces, private terraces, and patios offer plenty of sunshine in the south while gazing at the horizon. “Nikko represents life,” says Maurizio Orlacchio, general manager of the hotel. “We want to forget about our concerns when our guests arrive, unplug them completely and dream.”

The hotel is the only luxury hotel on the Amalfi Coast, with its own beach club and pier, arriving by sea and an easy departure from Borgo Sant’Andrea to explore the coast directly. The hotel also has three restaurants. An upscale Alici restaurant led by chef Crescenzo Scotti, a traditional La Libreria specializing in local favorites, and a Beach Club restaurant serving light meals.

Another selling point is the beautifully landscaped gardens that take guests from the roof terrace to the beach. Sustainability and health are top priorities for Borgo Sant’Andrea, who seeks to create a garden not only for decorative purposes but also for practical reasons. “Landscaping is a luxury,” says Gaetano Amart, a famous local gardener who worked in the outdoor spaces of Belmond Hotel Caruso and Palazzo Aveeno in Ravello.

“When the English arrived in the 1950s, they brought garden landscaping to the Amalfi Coast. On the Amalfi Coast, the farmland turned into flower beds. But the gardens have also served multiple functions because they are beautiful. Not only is it relaxing, but it also provides the ingredients. At Borgo Santandrea, we use herbs in our cooking and organic bath products. Greens help reduce and offset energy usage. “

Borgo Santandrea will open on April 14, 2022. Please check the details and book your stay.
