The name Loro Piana is synonymous with soft — soft cashmere sweaters, soft suede shoes, and soft leather bags. But it’s not just about any kind of software — Softest Of soft. It’s so soft that it can be difficult to describe the feel of the fabric in words.

This week I was seated in a luxurious white Palm Duet chaise longue covered with Loro Piana Cashfur — yes, Cash furEpicurean fabrics they developed using cashmere and silk — at the brand new “Home for the Holidays” interior and lifestyle pop-up store in Aspen. The experience was similar to how a polar bear’s hug feels, or a glass of whipped cream in a mug of hot chocolate. But … it was really soft.

The chair was made in collaboration with French designer Rafa Ernavot, who first fell in love with Loro Piana’s cash fur fabric after using it for his own interior project. In addition, the furniture cushions are made of patented gel, so they take shape when you sit down and return to their original position when you stand up.

“It’s desirable because it really wraps your body like a palm,” said Francesco Pergamo, who has been working for the company for nearly 20 years and was appointed director of Loro Piana Interiors in 2019. The name comes from the organic curved shape that allows two people to snuggle up, as well as the comfortable texture of the chair.

Of course, it makes sense for a brand (and this chair) known for its cozy textiles to find a home in Aspen’s “Paris, Colorado,” as a friend explained. From Gabriela Hearst to Kiss, there are many other brands here. , I also launched a winter shop. The first Loro Piana Aspen store opened in 1999, but a special “Home for the Holidays” pop-up just a few blocks away is open until December 21st.

In addition to thick and warm scarves, gloves and ski balaclavas, customers can also buy the Loro Piana Interior Collection in a pop-up. This includes palm duet chaise lounges, lamps, pillows, blankets, candles and more to make your home as luxurious as possible. This is the first time these interior items have been purchased by the general public. (Well, anyone who wants to spend a lot of money on furniture. For example, Palm Duet chaise longues, like most luxury ones, are “on demand”.)

Previously, Loro Piana’s interior business was limited to private consignment, and interior designers, architects and decorators demanded brand textiles not only for their customers’ homes, but also for cars, boats and private jets. rice field. Of the customers they tend to attract.

“They started making fabrics that were totally unexpected to be used in the interior world,” Pergamon said. Cashmere sofa? On a boat? Indeed, Loro Piana can do it for you.

One of the first items Loro Piana ever produced was actually a slow blanket. (The brand, founded in Italy in 1924, has a history of almost 100 years.) “Everything starts with the tradition of fabrics and textiles, trying to identify projects that can expand and maximize this textile. “Pelgamon explained.

It is the details that are true to Loro Piana fashion and make the interior collection special. “The fabric is tailored to each piece of furniture, as if it were a bespoke suit,” Pergamo explained, moving his hands along the minimal seams of the chair. After a long day trip, my bottom was very impressed.
