“It’s very sad to have to announce that Tim Sale has died today. He loves his life by his side and died, and he loves all of you very much,” read the post. I’m out.
Sale started his career with independent comics in the early 80’s and became famous in the mainstream industry in the mid 90’s thanks to his collaboration with writer Jeph Loeb.
Robe and Sale’s first collaboration, Batman: Long Halloween instantly solidified Sale’s reputation as one of the most distinctive and beloved Batman artists to date. Long Halloween is an original and influential Batman story with narrative elements adapted to movies such as The Dark Knight and Batman, and the sale’s reputation at Cape Do Crusader is titled Batman: Dark Victory. Growing only thanks to the sequel.
The Robe-Sale partnership extends far beyond Batman, with color-themed titles including Superman for All Seasons at DC, and Hulk: Gray, Spider-Man: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow, Captain America: White at Marvel. The entire series has been established. Selling as a unique and fan-favorite artist, inheriting the unique yet iconic classic superhero character.
In October 2021, DC unveiled the new Batman: Long Halloween story. Batman’s story could be even more.
“Captain America: White, so after spending almost the last decade, reconnecting with Jeff, both working and talking daily as a friend, rekindling it and re-finding its friendship and creative partnership. It was just a glory, “he told Newsarama at the time of the sale. “It’s the only best part of telling a new long Halloween story. Our friendship is stronger than ever in many ways.”
