Welsh-born New Yorker Catherine Zeta-Jones is a force on the silver screen – but her talents extend beyond Hollywood to her home (or rather, her garden).
The actress, who is best known for her roles in The Mask of Zorro, Chicagoand most recently Wednesday (as Morticia Addams), shared a rare look at her $4.7 million estate in Irvington, New York. Spanning 12 acres, the land is impressive in its expansive size and location (with views of the Hudson River). However, it’s her carefully placed patio that steals the show everyone the attention
Catherine Zeta-Jones recently documented the light snowfall in her garden (below) and shared that her perfectly positioned patio slabs make the blizzards sit ‘in perfect harmony’.
‘When ‘OCD’ is in perfect harmony. The blizzards rest around my porch slabs in just the right place, ahhhh,’ she writes.
Catherine, who lives with actor and filmmaker Michael Douglas in her Westchester County home, describes herself as an ‘interiors fanatic’ on Instagram. However, we would say that her garden landscaping ideas are hard to compete with.
Her patio demonstrates beautiful symmetry—whether covered in snow or not—and makes a statement against the otherwise natural landscape.
An expansive patch of grass sits beyond the patio, leading to a tree-covered woodland on the edge of New York’s most famous river. The view can be enjoyed from inside the property (where Catherine probably took the photo) or from the balcony, surrounded by cast iron railings seen in the image.
However, the actresses’ garden has more features to accompany luxurious family life.
During one of the Covid lockdowns, Catherine shared photos of Michael and their dog in them al fresco dining area, dressed with black and white gingham cushions against cream chairs.
Hello (opens in new tab) also reports that their backyard includes an outdoor kitchen, a private bridge and a tunnel by the Hudson. Inside the home, there is an indoor pool and fitness suite, a wood-paneled library and a games room. The couple lives with their two teenage children, Carys Zeta Douglas and Dylan Michael Douglas.
To get a sense of the actress’ decorating style, you can tour Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ former Mediterranean Island home, which is just as striking as their New York abode. Their property portfolio stretches from Bermuda to Canada and of course Catherine’s hometown of Swansea, South Wales.
