Barns and flower fields at Flora and Field

Tell us about you as one of the faces behind Flora and Field?

I’m Theresa Berger, owner of Flora and Field. I’m from Illinois with a background in fine arts and engineering and have been designing indoor and outdoor spaces for as long as I can remember. I’m passionate about hospitality, one-of-a-kind experiences and simple elegance – a perfectionist some say. I love good design. I mean, I really, really love good design. Almost everything on our property is built with pencil, graph paper and coffee after a Sunday morning meeting. This is my juice.

I’ve traveled the world and lived in the biggest big cities, but I found a little piece of paradise in Pickaway County. There, on our 30 acres of flowers and nature, I live with my husband, partner and financial advisor Joe and our energetic Airedale Ruth. All three of our sons are chasing their dreams in major American cities, and even though we miss them, we couldn’t be more proud. I am fortunate to have the support of my family and for my clients to trust me and be friends.

To me, this company is more than a place to get married – it’s a magical place destined to bring people together. I like it. This is my passion.

Should readers know about your business?

Flora and Field started out as a flower farm with a beautiful Amish-built barn for handling and arranging flowers. A local pharmacist asked to get married in the barn and that’s when everything changed! Soon, an open-air reception space was connected to the main barn with clear views of the dahlia fields. Since 2018, an open barn with stage, bridal salon and house, cocktail patio and bar, floral design studio, GQ lounge and private gated entry has been constructed or remodeled to complete the ultimate wedding complex. The airy and spacious event space now exceeds 11,000 square feet. We’re not done yet!
